Renovalia’s CEO, José Manuel Olea, has presented the new photovoltaic plant located on the ‘El Bonal’ estate in Puertollano, the province of Ciudad Real. With a capacity of 79 megawatts, the plant has been operational for a year and aims to make Puertollano the «energy hub of Spain.» Olea has also announced the construction of a similar plant in Guadalajara, with a capacity of 126 megawatts. The Puertollano plant, which occupies around 100 hectares and required an investment of around 40 million euros, has already reduced the emission of 21,000 tonnes of CO2 annually and produces the equivalent of the consumption of 37,000 households each year. During its construction, over 300 people were employed, mainly from the Puertollano region. The construction of 105 electricity production projects with a total capacity of 4,500 megawatts has also been announced in Castilla-La Mancha, considered «very good news» by the Counsellor for Sustainable Development, José Luis Escudero.
